Enshrouded 2025 Updates: Every Major Patch and New Content
A complete recap of every Enshrouded update in 2025, from Pact of the Flame to Wake of the Water. New biomes, pets, water mechanics, and more.
Enshrouded has had a landmark year in 2025. Developer Keen Games shipped three major content updates, dozens of hotfixes, and laid out a clear roadmap toward the full 1.0 launch planned for Spring 2026. If you stepped away from Embervale at any point this year, here is everything you missed.
Pact of the Flame (Update 5) — January 28, 2025
The year kicked off with the Pact of the Flame update (v0.8.0.0), arriving on the game’s first anniversary in Early Access. This update focused on social features, building tools, and quality-of-life improvements.
Key additions
- In-game text chat with options for proximity-based or server-wide voice communication, plus a set of emotes and a new social menu.
- Over 80 new building items, including party props, food placements, and coasters for decorating your base.
- Full rotation for decorative props — furniture and decorations can now be rotated on all axes instead of only vertically.
- New building tools: one for adding and removing overgrowth like ivy on building blocks, and another for applying or removing ruined-edge visuals on walls.
- Individual skill resets in the skill tree, so you no longer need to wipe your entire build to change a single point.
- Visual parry indicators on enemy attacks and projectiles that previously lacked them.
- New taming target: the Dune Armadillo, found in the Kindlewastes.
- A Lunar New Year quest introducing a vanity trader NPC who can become a permanent villager in your base.
Thralls of Twilight (Update 6) — May 13, 2025
Update 6 (v0.8.1.0) arrived in May with a heavy focus on visual overhauls, modding systems, and new combat depth across the Shrouded zones.
Key additions
- Full visual rework of the Shroud across every biome. The volumetric renderer was rewritten for higher fidelity fog and cloud rendering. The Nomad Steppes and Kindlewastes also received landscape facelifts.
- Over 100 new points of interest in Shrouded zones, ranging from small hidden nooks to substantial encounters with new enemy types and night-only creature variations.
- Weapon modification system with gem crafting and a new deconstruction mechanic, adding deeper gear customization.
- Armor dyeing for cosmetic variety.
- New resources, loot, and crafting recipes tied to the updated Shroud content.
- Community-chosen quests and new puzzle encounters.
- Quality-of-life fixes and stability patches followed through Patch 8 (May 22) and Patch 9 (June 5).
Wake of the Water (Update 7) — November 10, 2025
The biggest update of 2025 introduced fully dynamic, simulated water to Embervale. Update 7 (v0.9.0.0) overhauled exploration, building, and combat in significant ways.
New biome: Veilwater Basin
A tropical forest region between the Albaneve Summits and the Blackmire, designed for level 35+ characters. It features large lakes, rivers, ancient ruins, and a new enemy faction called the Drak.
Dynamic water mechanics
Water in Enshrouded is not static decoration. Players can redirect flowing water, dig canals, and build waterways. Water gates control flow, and water wheels and windmills can power crafting factories. Crafting recipes that require water now draw from simulated water portions stored in your base infrastructure.
Fishing
A new fishing system lets players craft rods, use bait, and watch for disturbed water surfaces marking productive spots. Caught fish serve as cooking ingredients and crafting materials. A later patch (Patch 12, December 16) added the ability to release caught fish into ponds.
Combat and progression
- Maximum character level raised to 45, with weapons scaling up to level 50.
- Greatswords added as a new weapon type, with dedicated skills and matching armor sets.
- New skills including Splash Dash, Whirlwind Crescendo, and Kick.
- Comprehensive rebalancing of weapon, armor, and ring stats.
Building and quality of life
- Water-specific building blocks, decorations, and placeable props.
- Editable signs and plaques for base customization.
- Respawning at the last-visited save point instead of always at base.
- A ban system for multiplayer servers and a new “Visitor” role that prevents guests from terraforming outside designated base areas.
- Unified stack sizes and recipe outputs for cleaner inventory management.
December Patches and Holiday Content
Patch 10 through Patch 12 (November 13 to December 16) addressed post-launch stability for the Wake of the Water release. Patch 12 (v0.9.0.3) reverted stamina values back to pre-Update-7 levels after community feedback, added holiday decorations including the rest of the Maritime furniture set, and introduced the fish-release feature mentioned above.
Looking Ahead to 2026
Keen Games confirmed a Spring 2026 target for the full 1.0 release, which will also mark the game’s launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The 2025 roadmap outlined 36 planned features, and the studio has delivered on the majority of them. Upcoming features still on the horizon include an event system with portals to themed worlds, base raids on separate islands, tameable pets beyond farm animals, creative mode, and cross-server teleportation.
For server hosts, every major 2025 update has been fully compatible with dedicated servers. If you are running an Enshrouded server, make sure to update your server files after each patch to stay in sync with connecting players.
