V Rising in 2025: A Landmark Year for Vampires

Stunlock Studios has delivered one of V Rising’s most significant updates to date with the 1.1 patch, titled Invaders of Oakveil. Released on April 28, 2025, for both PC and PlayStation 5, this free content update introduces a new biome, seven new bosses, three weapons, reworked game systems, and a dedicated PvP contest system. Here is everything that changed and why it matters for your server.

The Invaders of Oakveil Update (Patch 1.1)

A New Biome: Oakveil Woodlands

The Oakveil Woodlands is a forested region in the northwest of the map, once a peaceful woodland now corrupted by dark forces. It is home to the Venom Blades, a new enemy faction fanatically loyal to their leader, Megara the Serpent Queen. The biome includes four new locations: Carvers Logging Outpost, Venom Mixing Outpost, Venom Blades Bastion, and Oakveil Shoreline. New crafting materials like Corrupted Oak and Venom Sap drop from enemies and resource nodes in this region.

Seven New V Blood Bosses

The update adds seven new V Blood carriers for players to hunt and defeat:

  • Sir Erwin the Gallant Cavalier - A mounted knight
  • Gaius the Cursed Champion - A cursed warrior
  • Stavros the Carver - Found at the logging outpost
  • Jakira the Shadow Huntress - Defeating her grants an additional passive slot and unlocks the Slasher weapon
  • Lucile the Venom Alchemist - A poison specialist
  • Dantos the Forgebinder - Level 82 boss with crafting unlocks
  • Megara the Serpent Queen - The level 88 final boss of the biome who drops the Soul Shard of the Serpent and a piece of Dracula’s set

Three New Weapons and Six New Spells

V Rising 1.1 introduces three melee weapon types. Claws offer fast combo attacks with puncture stacking. Daggers can be thrown as projectiles for ranged harass. The Twinblade is a dual-wield weapon with sweeping strikes for crowd control. Each magical school also received a new spell: Blood’s Carrion Swarm, Chaos’s Rain of Chaos, Unholy’s Chains of Death, Illusion’s Curse, Frost’s Arctic Storm, and Storm’s Lightning Tendrils.

Reworked Game Systems

Blood Type Overhaul

All eight blood types received substantial revisions that emphasize combat effectiveness. A ninth blood type, Corrupted, was added with defensive properties against specific damage types. Blood now influences stats more significantly, making your choice of prey a meaningful strategic decision.

Attribute System Changes

Bonus Physical and Spell Power now function as percentage increases rather than flat bonuses. New attributes include Weapon Skill Power, Ultimate Power, and Spell Charges. Jewels and weapon attributes are now organized into five clear tiers instead of random rolls, giving players more predictable build planning.

Dominate Rework

The Dominate Human ability has been reworked into simply “Dominate,” allowing players to charm any unit with a blood type. This expands imprisonment options well beyond humans and provides easier access to various blood types for your castle’s blood supply.

PvP Contests System

A new structured PvP system called Contests lets players engage in fair fights without the chaos of open-world PvP. You can craft and place a Dueling Banner for one-on-one combat, or build an Arena in your castle for customizable team battles. This gives PvP servers a way to organize competitive play alongside open-world raiding.

Castle and Quality-of-Life Improvements

The update adds several new castle stations. Horse Stables let you shelter and feed horses to improve their stats. The Redistribution Engine handles item transfers, while the Blood Homogenizer blends blood types. The Fusion Forge combines weapons and jewels, and the Treasury provides shared inventory storage. The Castle Throne is now accessible in the early game since it no longer requires reinforced planks.

Inventory management improved with adjustable stack-splitting sliders. Passive abilities are now unlocked through V Blood defeats rather than random research. The Research Desk allows category selection instead of randomization. Text scaling was added as an accessibility option.

Important Note on Saves

Because the 1.1 update makes fundamental changes to systems, maps, and units, existing saves from earlier versions are not compatible. Servers need to start fresh worlds to experience the Oakveil content.

Legacy of Castlevania DLC Additions

In late 2024, the Legacy of Castlevania Premium Pack received a free content update adding new castle decor items including Luxury Wooden Wall panels, Gold-Lined Stained Glass Windows and Doors, and themed Metal Fencing. Cosmetic sets inspired by Shanoa from Order of Ecclesia and Soma Cruz from Dawn of Sorrow were also added for DLC owners.

Running a V Rising Server in 2025

With the Oakveil update adding substantial new content and reworked systems, now is an excellent time to start a fresh V Rising server. Whether you prefer PvE exploration of the new biome or testing the Contests PvP system, a dedicated server ensures your castle and progress persist around the clock.

Reactor offers V Rising dedicated server hosting with instant setup, full settings customization, and automatic backups so you can focus on building your vampire empire in the Oakveil Woodlands.
